Privacy Policy

The short version: Digital Legacy is a fully offline app. We do not collect, transmit, sell, share, or have any access to any of the information you enter. Everything you save stays on your device. There are no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.

1. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy describes how the Digital Legacy mobile application (the \"App\") handles the information you choose to enter into it. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

2. Information we collect

None. The App does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on any server. All data you enter — including names, contacts, account details, passwords, recovery information, device inventory entries, and your Family Instruction Letter — is stored only on your device.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any identifier.
We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP addresses, or location.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry SDKs.
We do not display advertisements, and we do not work with ad networks.

3. Where your data lives

All information you enter is stored locally on your device using the platform's standard storage mechanisms:

Document records are stored in the App's private sandboxed storage (AsyncStorage) which is only accessible to the App itself.
Your PIN is stored in the platform's secure hardware-backed storage — Android Keystore on Android and the iOS Keychain on iOS.
If you enable biometric unlock (fingerprint / Face ID), the biometric data never leaves your device. It is handled entirely by the operating system. The App never sees, receives, or stores biometric data.

4. Network activity

The App makes no network requests that send or receive any personal information. The only network activity is loading static brand artwork (logo and category illustrations) from a public content-delivery network. These requests contain no information about you and no information you have entered.

5. PDFs, exports, and sharing

The App can generate PDF documents and JSON backup files from the information you have entered. These files are created on your device. When you choose to share or save them, the App uses your operating system's standard share sheet — for example, to send the file by email, save it to cloud storage, or send it via a messaging app. Once you hand the file to another app, that app's own privacy policy applies. We do not see, intercept, log, or send a copy of any exported file.

6. Permissions the App uses

Biometric authentication (optional) — only used to unlock the App. You can disable it at any time in Settings.

The App does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location, calendar, or files outside the App's own sandbox.

7. Third-party services

None. The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, attribution, or tracking SDKs.

8. Children's privacy

The App is intended for adults planning their digital legacy. We do not knowingly direct the App at children under 13, and we collect no information from anyone — including children — because the App collects no information at all.

9. Your control over your data

Because all data lives only on your device, you are in complete control:

Edit or delete records at any time from within the App.
Reset all data using Settings → Reset All Data. This permanently erases every record stored by the App.
Uninstall the App to remove everything it has stored. Because nothing is synced to a server, uninstalling fully removes your data.
Export your data at any time as a PDF or JSON backup, which only you control.

10. Security

Your information is protected by the security features built into your device's operating system, including app sandboxing, hardware-backed key storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain), and the optional PIN and biometric lock provided by the App. We strongly recommend enabling the App Lock for additional protection.

11. International users

Because no data is sent to us or to any other party, there are no international data transfers and no cross-border processing of personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

If we ever change the App in a way that affects this Privacy Policy — for example, if we add an optional cloud-sync feature in the future — we will update this page with a new \"Last updated\" date and clearly describe the change. Continued use of the App after such a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
